“From her keenly developed intuition and intense personal experiences, Mavis Deerfoot learns to deepen her relationship with Turtle Island and the people around her. This fuels in her a passion to aid in teaching her orphaned granddaughter to live “a good way”. An innate sense of personal responsibility, lessons mastered in an Indigenous Residential School, an ocean of faith, and reclamation of her cultural heritage formulate in Mavis a respect for All That Is. In an effort of innerstand her role in a changing world view, Mavis learns to navigate with grace, the myriad emotions that bubble to the surface of her awareness.”
